Comparison of different welding processes for motor windings under environmental pressure

Different motor manufacturers and motor repair shops use different welding processes in winding processing. For example, some use a mixture of gas cylinders (such as liquefied petroleum gas, propane, acetylene) and oxygen cylinders. This process is a hydrocarbon flame, which has certain defects or limitations.

1. Gas and oxygen welding process

●The flame temperature is relatively low, which can easily cause poor soldering and desoldering, thus affecting product quality;

● The flame is relatively diffused, which can easily cause the paint to peel off the adjacent enameled wires, resulting in poor insulation;

●Both gas cylinders and oxygen cylinders are pressure vessels, which pose certain safety risks;

●Gas leaks can lead to poisoning or even death;

●Because the flame temperature is low, the welding efficiency is correspondingly lower;

● Gas cylinders need to be stored and transported, which also takes time. If gas delivery is not timely, it will seriously affect production.

2. Oxyhydrogen flame welding process

Oxyhydrogen flame welding machines, also known as water welding machines, oxyhydrogen machines, or hydrogen-oxygen welding machines, utilize the principle of water electrolysis. Electricity is used to convert water (H2O) into hydrogen and oxygen, which are then ignited by a specialized flame torch to create an oxyhydrogen flame. This allows for rapid and automatic stripping and welding of enameled wires. Oxyhydrogen flame welding offers advantages such as smooth and full welds, high welding speed, and safety and environmental friendliness.

●The temperature of the oxyhydrogen flame reaches 2800 degrees Celsius, making it one of the hottest flames currently known.

● The calorific value of hydrogen is 34,000 kcal, which is about three times that of liquefied petroleum gas;

●The flame of an oxyhydrogen flame should be concentrated and not diffuse, with minimal thermal radiation;

● Hydrogen-oxygen combustion produces only water and no waste gas, making it an environmentally friendly device;

● Hydrogen and oxygen gas are produced using water as a raw material, consume a small amount of electricity, are manufactured on demand, and only produce as much as needed. They do not store the gas and do not pose any problems such as high-pressure explosions or leakage poisoning.

● Gas is produced when the machine is turned on and stops when the machine is turned off; gas is produced and used immediately, and no gas is produced when not in use.

●Eliminates the paint removal process; welding can proceed directly without removing the paint.

● The welding flame is precise and will not generate heat radiation to the nearby enameled wire;

● The weld joints are smooth and full.

Objectively speaking, however, all processes are related to the operator's skill level. If the wire ends to be soldered are handled properly, the soldering effect will be good. Otherwise, it will affect the effect and make subsequent wiring difficult.
