Q1. What is the name of CC-Link's cable?
Answer: Among the various CC-Link cables sold by different manufacturers, there is no specifically recommended cable model.
Please use a CC-Link certified cable.
Q2. What type of cable is best for connecting the GXWorks3 (computer) to the iQ-F series Ethernet cable?
Answer: Please use cable products that correspond to Ethernet specification category 5 or higher (STP cable).
Q3. Can the soft device link register (W) and file register (R) of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module be latched?
Answer: Yes. But a battery FX3U-32BL (optional) is required.
Q4. What is the range of the soft device latch for the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: Customers can set the latching range arbitrarily.
The latch range can also be set in the memory/software settings of the CPU parameters.
Q5. How to set the latch range of soft components in the PLC of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?

Q6. When the power is off, the data register (D100) of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module is cleared. How should it be configured to perform latching?
Answer: The latch range needs to be set through the memory/software settings of the CPU parameters.
Q7. Can the MXComponent communicate with the FX5U/FX5UC? Should we use serial port or Ethernet?
Answer: The MXComponent that supports communication with the FX5U needs to be version 4.09K or higher.
Both serial port and Ethernet methods are supported.
Q8. Does the software GX_Works3 support the simulation functions of FX5U/FX5UC?
Answer: GXWorks3Ver.1.025B and above support simulation functionality.
Q9. What is the difference between full conversion and conversion?
Answer: Full conversion refers to the entire conversion program, while conversion only refers to the parts of the conversion program that need to be modified.
Q10. The device (MELSECiQ-F) operates inconsistently with the monitoring status.
Answer: After the full conversion and memory initialization, please perform a write operation to the PLC.
Q11. Can iQ-F series programs be written using the software GXDeveloper/GXWorks2?
Answer: GXDeveloper/GXWorks2 cannot be used.
It only applies to GXWorks3 (iQWorks).
Q12. Can the iQ-F series achieve fully synchronous operation control of 2 axes?
Answer: FX5-40SSC-S or FX5-80SSC-S can be used for synchronous control functions.
Q13. Can the instruction speed be changed through the built-in positioning action of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: This can be changed. Please refer to "About the command speed in positioning actions" in the MELSECiQ-FFX5 User Manual (Positioning Section).
Q14. Can the current address be changed to any value during the positioning action built into the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: It can be changed. For example, when using a location instruction, the operand specifying the location address is stored in a word device, and the address can be changed by modifying the value of that device.
Q15. How many axes can be controlled at most through the positioning built into the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: A maximum of 4 axes can be controlled. Please use a transistor output CPU module. (If you connect a high-speed pulse input/output module, you can easily increase the number of controlled axes. A maximum of 12 axes can be controlled (4 axes built into the CPU + 2 axes from each expansion module × 4 units).
Q16. How many slave stations can be connected to the master station during MODBUS communication?
Answer: When using the RS-485 interface, up to 32 stations can be connected; when using the RS-232C interface, only one slave station can be connected.
Q17. If an additional communication interface is added, can MODBUS multi-channel communication be achieved?
Answer: MODBUS multi-channel communication can be used. However, the master station can only be configured with one channel. MODBUS communication can be configured through GXWorks3 parameters.
Q18. What kind of communication can be achieved through the RS-485 interface built into the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: Simple PLC connection, parallel connection, MC protocol, frequency converter communication, protocol-free communication, MELSOFT connection, MODBUS(r)RTU communication, communication protocol support, etc.
Q19. If the IP address has been set, what could be the reason why GXWorks3 and MELSECiQ-F series fail to work after changing the computer?
Answer: Security software (antivirus software) may be blocking Ethernet communication. Please temporarily stop running the security software, or configure the security software to allow Ethernet communication, and then try connecting again.
Can data links be established between Q20 and FX5U/FX5UC CPU modules, or between Q series modules, via Ethernet?
Answer: Yes. Please use nested word (Socket) communication or SLMP communication functionality.
Q21. How can I connect both GOT and GXWorks3 simultaneously via the Ethernet interface of the iQ-F series?
Answer: Multiple units can be connected by using a switching hub.
Q22. What communication can be performed through the built-in Ethernet interface of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: When using the Ethernet interface for communication, SLMP, MELSOFT connection, and SOCKET communication protocols support a maximum of eight connection methods in total. Furthermore, even if all eight connection methods are used, communication with GXWorks3 can still be ensured via the MELSOFT connection.
Q23. Why can't the iQ-F series communicate with GXWorks3 via Ethernet? Please give your guess as to the reason.
Answer: Please disable the "Obtain an IP address automatically" setting in Microsoft® Windows® 7 Network Protocol Version 4 and set an IP address that does not conflict with the MELSECiQ-F. Additionally, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and the first three ports (the first to third octets) must match the IP address on the MELSECiQ-F side.
*: The initial IP address of MELSECiQ-F is 192.168.3.250.
Q24. Can one FX5U/FX5UC CPU module be connected to one FX5-CCL-MS as a master station, and another of the same module as a smart module slave station?
Answer: Yes.
Q25. If the CPU is a MELSECiQ-F series, can the CC-Link parameters be set through GXWorks3 parameters?
Answer: When connecting the MELSECiQ-F series to the FX5-CCL-MS, parameters can be set directly through GXWorks3. However, when connecting the MELSECiQ-F series to the FX3U-16CCL-M, parameters need to be set through a program. Please refer to the program examples in the FX3U-16CCL-M user manual for details.
Q26. Can the FX3U-16CCL-M (main station) connect to the local station?
Answer: Not possible. Only remote soft component stations, intelligent soft component stations, and remote I/O stations can be connected.
Q27. How should S/S terminals be wired?
Answer: When using the PLC's built-in power supply, connect the S/S terminal to the 24V terminal for sinking input and connect the S/S terminal to the 0V terminal for sourcing input.
When using an external power supply, connect the S/S terminal to the +24V side (P side) for sinking input and connect the S/S terminal to the -24V side (N side) for sourcing input.
Q28. What is the function of the S/S terminals on the CPU module and I/O module?
Answer: The S/S terminal is the input sink/source switching terminal.
Q29. Do I need to configure anything when using the built-in analog signal function of the FX5UCPU module?
Answer: Parameters can be set via GXWorks3 or special relays/registers corresponding to analog functions. For details, please refer to the MELSECiQ-FFX5 User Manual (Analog Quantity Section, CPU Module Built-in/Extension Adapter).
Q30. Can the FX5U/FX5UCCPU module alone handle analog input and output?
Answer: The FX5U CPU module has 2 built-in voltage inputs (DC0~10V) and 1 voltage output (DC0~10V).
If an external resistor is connected, it can also handle current input (DC4~20mA).
For details, please refer to the MELSECiQ-FFX5 User Manual (Analog Input Section: CPU Module Built-in/Extension Adapter).
However, since the FX5UCCPU module does not have built-in analog signal functionality, please use an analog signal adapter or smart module.
Q31. What is the frequency that the high-speed counter of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module can correspond to?
Answer: The maximum frequency is 200kHz. (100kHz in dual-phase dual-input 2x multiplier mode and 50kHz in 4x multiplier mode)
Q32. Can a high-speed counter be expanded on the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: Each CPU can be expanded to connect to 4 high-speed pulse input/output modules FX5-16ET/ES-H, FX5-16ET/ESS-H*, which, together with the high-speed counter built into the CPU module, can correspond to 16 channels of input.
*: Each FX5-16ET/E□-H unit is equipped with a 2-channel high-speed counting function.
Q33. How many channels can the high-speed counter of the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module use?
Answer: It corresponds to three modes: single-phase single-input, single-phase dual-input, and dual-phase dual-input. The CPU module's built-in high-speed counter can handle up to 8 input channels.
However, the maximum response frequency of the CPU module in the 32-point model varies depending on the channel.
FX5U/FX5UC CPU module (32 points): 6 channels at 200kHz, 2 channels at 10kHz, totaling 8 channels.
FX5U CPU module (64/80 points), FX5UC CPU module (64/96 points): 200kHz 8ch
Q34. Is a battery required when maintaining soft components via the FX5U/FX5UC CPU module?
Answer: It can be maintained even without a battery.
However, when holding R or W type soft components, a battery is required.

Is it possible to expand with a special FX3 adapter?
Is the FX2 Smart Function Module expandable?
Is it possible to expand the FX3 smart function module?
Answer: The FX3 special adapter cannot be extended.
The FX2 Smart Function Module cannot be expanded.
It can expand the FX3 intelligent function module, but requires the configuration of the bus conversion module FX5-CNV-BUS.
