How can I buy a genuine motor and how can I distinguish between good and bad quality motors?
There are many manufacturers of three-phase asynchronous motors, and their quality and prices vary. Although my country has long established technical standards for motor production and design, many companies have adjusted their motor designs according to the segmented needs of the market, resulting in differences in motor performance on the market.
Three-phase asynchronous motors are a technologically mature product with relatively low production barriers. In regions with developed industrial chains, small workshop-style motor factories are everywhere. However, to ensure excellent motor performance and stable quality, a motor factory of a certain scale is still required.
silicon steel sheets
Silicon steel sheets are a crucial component of motors, accounting for a significant portion of the motor's cost along with copper wire. Silicon steel sheets are divided into cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel sheets. The government has long advocated abandoning hot-rolled sheets, and most large-scale enterprises now use cold-rolled sheets for manufacturing. The performance of cold-rolled sheets is reflected in their grade, typically DW800, DW600, DW470, etc. Ordinary asynchronous motors generally use DW800. Some enterprises use steel strips to manufacture motors, which results in significant performance differences.
Core length
Both the stator and rotor of the motor are die-cast from silicon steel sheets. The length and density of the die-cast core have a significant impact on motor performance. The longer and denser the die-cast core, the better the power performance. Some companies reduce costs by shortening the core length or lowering the grade of silicon steel sheets, thus lowering the motor price.
Copper duct full coverage
The fill factor of the copper slots refers to the amount of copper wire used. The longer the iron core, the more copper wire is used, and the higher the fill factor. With sufficient copper wire, the motor performance will be better. Some manufacturers reduce the amount of copper wire used and lower costs by reducing the size of the stator slots without changing the length of the iron core.
bearings
Bearings are the carriers that bear the high-speed rotation of the motor rotor. The quality of the bearings affects the motor's operating noise and heat generation.
chassis
The housing bears the vibration and heat dissipation of the motor during operation. Calculated by weight, the heavier the housing, the greater its strength. Of course, the appearance design and die-casting effect of the housing are also important factors affecting the price of the housing.
process
Factors such as the machining precision of machined parts, rotor die-casting process, assembly process, and insulation impregnation all affect the performance and quality stability of motors. Large-scale manufacturers have relatively strict production process management, resulting in more guaranteed quality.
In general, motors are products where you basically get what you pay for. Motors with significantly different prices will definitely have different qualities. Ultimately, it depends on whether the motor's quality and price meet the customer's requirements and are suitable for different market segments.
