There are three main types of motion control cards: microcontroller-based, dedicated chip-based, and DSP-based.
01 Microcontroller-based motion control card
Advantages: Inexpensive and easy to use.
Weaknesses: The main problems are slow output pulse speed and low interpolation accuracy, especially the low accuracy of circular interpolation, and some are still soft interpolation.
02 Motion control cards based on dedicated ASIC and FPGA chips
Advantages: High reliability and complete functionality.
Weaknesses: Poor openness and lack of customization; poor interpolation performance, especially circular interpolation; inability to perform continuous interpolation; lack of buffer on the board, making it difficult to guarantee the continuity of small line segment processing under Windows environment.
03 ARM-based motion control card
Advantages: good openness, high speed and accuracy, continuous interpolation function, and good circular interpolation performance.
Weaknesses: Higher price, more complex secondary development.
Foreign products have advantages in performance and stability, but they are relatively more expensive, and their technical support may not be as strong as that of domestic products. Domestic DSP cores can be updated, possess intellectual property rights, and can be customized for customers. Domestic products also have a certain price advantage.
