IEC 60204-1/GB/T 5226.1 is an important standard concerning electrical equipment in machinery. It provides a basis for ensuring the safety of personnel and property, the consistency of control response, and the ease of maintenance of electrical equipment in industrial machinery. Equipment manufactured domestically, whether for export or domestic use, must comply with this standard.
GB/T 5226.1 : The "Chinese Version" of IEC 60204-1
In 2016 , the IEC updated IEC 60204-1 to the new version IEC 60204-1 : 2016 , therefore its corresponding "Chinese version" also needed to be updated accordingly. A dedicated working group was established in November 2015 to begin the conversion work based on IEC 60204-1 : 2016 " Safety of machinery – Electrical equipment for machinery – Part 1 : General technical conditions". After more than four years of drafting, consultation, review, and approval processes, the final converted standard, GB/T 5226.1-2019, was put into use on January 1 , 2020 .
Scope of application and non-application of the standard
In terms of content, the standard includes basic requirements, introduction of power line termination and disconnection switches, protection against electric shock, protection of electrical equipment, equipotential bonding, control circuits and control functions, control panels and control devices mounted on machinery, control devices, location, installation and cabinets, wires and cables, wiring technology, motors and related equipment, sockets and lighting, marking, warning signs and reference codes, technical documents, and verification, etc.
We can understand the interrelationships between various parts of a typical machine and related equipment by using the typical mechanical block diagram shown below.
GB/T 5226.1-2019 mainly covers five categories of hazards, including:
electric
noise
thermal energy
Control system failure
Ergonomics
This standard applies to electrical equipment with a rated frequency not exceeding 1000V AC, 1500V DC, and 200Hz . However, GB/ T 5226.1 is not applicable to certain types of machinery, such as outdoor machinery, machinery used in flammable and explosive environments, mining machinery, sewing machines (whose requirements are covered by IEC 60204-31 ) , and semiconductor equipment (whose requirements are covered by IEC 60204-33 ) . Furthermore, power circuits that directly use electrical energy as a means of processing are also not covered by GB/T 5226.1 .
