Inverter installation environment and procedures

The installation steps for frequency converters are generally similar, but some manufacturers may have specific requirements regarding the installation process and external environment. Below is a general guide to the installation steps for frequency converters. First, an insulation test must be performed on the main circuit of the frequency converter before installation. Second, an insulation test must be performed on the control circuit before installation.

Next, we need to make some requirements and arrangements for the installation environment of the frequency converter. The details are as follows:

(1) Ambient temperature

It is generally suitable for operation in environments with temperatures ranging from -10℃ to 40℃ and humidity levels below 90%. If the ambient temperature is higher than 40℃, the frequency converter should be derated by 5% for every 1℃ increase in temperature.

(2) General requirements for the installation site

1) No corrosive, flammable or explosive gases or liquids.

2) Free from dust, floating fibers and metal particles.

3) The foundation and walls of the installation site should be firm, undamaged, and free from vibration.

4) Avoid direct sunlight.

5) No electromagnetic interference

(3) Installation space and ventilation for the frequency converter

The frequency converter has an internal cooling fan for forced air cooling. To ensure good cooling circulation, the frequency converter must be installed vertically. When multiple frequency converters are installed in the same unit or control box, it is recommended to install them horizontally side by side to reduce mutual thermal interference.

(4) Removal of the inverter cover plate

During installation, the frequency converter needs to be tested, inspected, and wired, which requires removing its cover plate. It's important to be aware of the characteristics of different frequency converters and install them accordingly.

(5) Wiring of the frequency converter

1) Is the wiring incorrect?

2) Whether wire debris, especially metal shavings, short broken ends, and their screws and nuts have fallen inside the frequency converter.

3) Check if the screw is tightened and if the wire is loose.

4) Whether the exposed part of the terminal wiring comes into contact with the live parts of other terminals or touches the inverter housing.

(6) Precautions for wiring the control circuit

1) The wiring of the control circuit and the main circuit, as well as other power lines and electrical lines, should be run separately and kept at a certain distance.

2) The relay contact terminal leads in the inverter control circuit should be routed separately from the connections to other control circuit terminals to avoid interference signals when the contacts close or open.

3) To prevent interference from noise and other signals from causing the frequency converter to malfunction, the control circuit uses shielded wires.
