AGV lithium batteries have advantages such as high energy density, small size, light weight, environmental friendliness, and no memory effect. However, temperature has a significant impact on AGV batteries. With winter approaching, to ensure the lithium batteries perform optimally, proper maintenance and care are essential. So, how should AGV batteries be maintained and cared for in winter? Let's take a look!
01. Charge indoors, avoiding low temperatures.
In the generally cold winter, place the AGV in a cool, dry, and safe indoor environment. Keep the AGV away from dangerous items such as corrosive chemicals and hazardous machinery. Charge it indoors whenever possible and avoid low-temperature environments. It is not recommended to place the AGV outdoors, as harsh outdoor environments or excessively low temperatures may damage the battery.
02 Charge whenever needed, shallow discharge and shallow charge
Lower temperatures reduce battery activity, significantly decreasing the charging and discharging efficiency of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) batteries. This easily leads to overcharging and over-discharging, which can shorten battery lifespan or even cause fires. Therefore, it's crucial to use shallow discharge and shallow charge methods in winter. Batteries should also be kept fully charged in winter; fully discharged AGV lithium batteries should be recharged within 24 hours to extend battery life. Leaving an AGV completely discharged can damage the internal lithium battery cells, and this damage is irreversible.
03 Correct charging method
When charging, it's essential to use the correct charging method. Connect the charging adapter to the lithium battery, then connect the charging adapter's power plug to a power source and turn on the power. Using the correct charging method is a crucial aspect of battery maintenance.
04 Compatible with charging stations
The charging station for the AGV should be compatible with the lithium battery. Using an incompatible charger may cause a short circuit when current flows through the lithium battery, potentially leading to a lithium battery safety incident. This is detrimental to AGV battery maintenance, unsafe, and poses a threat to personal safety. If your charger is not working properly, it is recommended to contact the official manufacturer to purchase a genuine charger to ensure charging quality.
05 Even when left unattended, maintenance is still necessary.
In winter, batteries should be kept fully charged to extend their lifespan. If the AGV is not used for an extended period, it is best to charge it once a month to prevent the AGV lithium battery from self-discharging, which can damage the battery structure and reduce the number of battery cycles.
