Classification of lithium-ion battery equipment

Lithium-ion battery equipment can be mainly classified into the following 10 categories: power lithium battery equipment, PACK battery equipment, button cell battery equipment, lithium-ion battery equipment, polymer battery equipment, lead-acid battery equipment, square soft-pack battery filling machine, solar cell equipment, nickel-cadmium battery equipment, nickel-light battery equipment, and fuel cell power battery equipment.

The manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries can be broadly divided into four stages: electrode fabrication, cell assembly, cell activation and testing, and battery packaging. Electrode fabrication, including processes such as stirring, coating, rolling, slitting, sheet forming, and tab shaping, is the foundation of lithium-ion battery manufacturing and places high demands on the performance, precision, stability, automation level, and production efficiency of electrode manufacturing equipment.

The cell assembly process mainly includes winding or stacking, cell pre-packaging, and electrolyte injection, which have high requirements for precision, efficiency, and consistency. The cell activation and testing process mainly includes cell formation and capacity testing. The battery packaging process includes testing, classifying, and combining individual cells that make up the battery pack in series and parallel, as well as testing the performance and reliability of the assembled battery pack.

What equipment is used in lithium battery production?

Automated production equipment for lithium-ion batteries includes lithium-ion battery barley paper pasting machines, lithium-ion battery separators, lithium-ion battery welding machines, lithium-ion battery comprehensive testers, and lithium-ion battery aging cabinets.

According to the lithium-ion battery production process, lithium battery equipment can be mainly divided into front-end equipment, mid-end equipment and back-end equipment.

The key equipment in lithium battery front-end manufacturing is for the electrode fabrication process, including vacuum mixers, coating machines, rolling mills, and slitting machines. The coating process requires uniformly applying the stirred slurry to the metal surface with a thickness accurate to less than 3μm. Slitting must ensure that the slices are free of any burrs, otherwise it will significantly affect subsequent processes. Therefore, front-end equipment is the core equipment in battery manufacturing, affecting the quality of the entire production line.

The mid-range equipment for lithium batteries mainly covers the cell assembly process, including winding or stacking machines, cell casing machines, liquid injection machines, and sealing and welding equipment.

Back-end equipment primarily covers processes such as cell activation and formation, capacity testing, and assembly into battery packs. In contrast, mid- and back-end equipment, such as casing, sealing, and testing machines, are relatively simple and have lower technical requirements.

As lithium-ion batteries become more and more widely used, companies are constantly expanding their production scale to meet people's needs, and lithium battery equipment companies are continuously increasing their output.
