The repository role refers to blockchain technology functioning like a ship on the ocean or a car on land—users can use it anywhere in the metaverse to store data. The connector role refers to blockchain technology providing a complete economic system that connects the virtual world of the metaverse with the real world. NFTs, a derivative technology, give virtual items a physical form, allowing users to trade virtual items just like they would trade real-world items; therefore, blockchain also serves as a connector.
computing power system
The computing power system primarily refers to the fact that the metaverse requires powerful computing capabilities to efficiently process the virtual world's operations. Since the metaverse can be considered a microcosm of the real world, users in the real world each have a virtual avatar that can enter this world. Therefore, the number of users and concurrent online users in the metaverse is extremely large, resulting in stringent requirements for computing power. For example, if the metaverse arrives but the computing power is insufficient, users will experience the same kind of buffering and endless loading screens that occur in real life when the network is poor – in short, lag.
Human-computer interaction
Human-computer interaction primarily refers to virtual reality technologies such as VR and artificial intelligence. VR and other virtual technologies serve as the entry point for real-world users to enter the metaverse, a virtual world. Users can only enter the metaverse by wearing corresponding devices and creating a virtual avatar within it. Artificial intelligence plays a role in the metaverse that people dislike. The metaverse can be considered a multiverse, encompassing elements from comics or games. Therefore, there will inevitably be certain roles that no one wants to play, which is where artificial intelligence comes in. However, the requirements for it are quite strict; it needs robots capable of seamless and free communication with humans.
Digital twin technology
The development of digital twin technology can accelerate the arrival of the metaverse because its most powerful capability lies in simulation. By establishing corresponding digital scenarios and then performing simulations through programs, many potential failures can be avoided, thus speeding up the arrival of the metaverse. Currently, this technology plays an important role in industry.
Communication technology
The communication technology mainly refers to the widespread adoption of 5G. Since the metaverse is a digital world, it places high demands on the network. Without a stable and high-speed network, users might struggle even to walk, let alone make friends or explore. However, the cost of building 5G base stations is currently quite high, and its widespread adoption will take a considerable amount of time.
