Factors affecting the stability of pressure sensors (pressure transmitters)

The stability of a pressure sensor is definitely a factor to consider when purchasing one. What exactly constitutes the stability of a pressure sensor? Stability refers to the ability of a pressure sensor to maintain its function unchanged after a period of use. Many factors influence the stability of a pressure sensor.

1. One of the biggest factors affecting the stability of a pressure sensor is its measurement range. The pressure range must be selected correctly. For transmitter measurements: first determine the maximum pressure value to be measured in the system equipment. Generally, a pressure sensor with a range 1.5 times greater than the maximum value of the medium should be selected. Many people don't understand this, so let me explain. For example, when measuring some liquid media or hydraulic equipment, when subjected to pressure impacts, there will be irregular fluctuations above the peak value. These momentary pressure fluctuations can damage the pressure sensor. In this case, we can select a buffer damper to reduce the pressure surge. When selecting a pressure sensor, the pressure range must be considered to avoid unnecessary problems, such as damage to instruments, machinery, etc.

2. Besides the pressure sensor's measuring range, another factor affecting the long-term stability of a pressure sensor is its operating environment. Therefore, to ensure good stability, a pressure sensor must have strong environmental adaptability. Before selecting a pressure sensor, its operating environment should be investigated, and a suitable sensor should be chosen based on the detailed operating environment, or appropriate measures should be taken to reduce the impact of the environment. The stability of a pressure sensor has quantitative indicators. After exceeding its service life, it should be recalibrated before use to determine if the transmitter's function has changed. In some applications where the transmitter must be used for a long time and cannot be easily replaced or calibrated, the stability requirements for the selected transmitter are even more stringent, and it must be able to withstand long-term testing.

3. There are many other factors that affect the stability of a pressure sensor, so we should pay attention to its stability when selecting a pressure sensor.
