Parallel robots, as an important category of industrial robots, play a crucial role in automation solutions. Wang Xiaojun, General Manager of Bokent, believes that parallel robots must possess four characteristics: First, professionalism—parallel robots must have outstanding performance and be fully capable of meeting application scenarios; second, ease of use—parallel robots need to be able to be put into production quickly and are simple and easy to operate; third, safety—during human-robot collaboration, the robot must ensure the personal safety of operators and have emergency response measures in place for unexpected situations; and fourth, reliability—parallel robots need to be durable, stable, and reliable, with some simple maintenance tasks that can be performed by the customer.

These four characteristics actually reflect enterprises' clear expectations for automation solutions. To address market pain points, the versatile and advanced Bokent DM series was developed.

Advanced chassis design: performance upgrades and enhanced efficiency

The one-piece cast static platform offers a 15% improvement in overall performance and a 25% reduction in weight.

In the manufacturing process of parallel robots, the static platform, as a core component, plays a crucial role in lifting the robot body and stabilizing the moving platform. It is typically composed of multiple machined parts. However, gaps can form at the joints of the workpieces due to the high-speed operation of the robot, leading to metal fatigue in fasteners such as bolts, making it difficult to meet the high precision requirements for long-term use. To address this issue, Birkent developed an integrated cast static platform, effectively solving the joint vibration problem and making the movement of the actuator more precise.

The integrated static platform uses an open-mold casting method, which is more suitable for large-scale mass production and can improve the delivery capability of large orders.

On the motion platform, the Burkent DM series pioneered the use of a carbon fiber composite active arm. While maintaining the structural strength of the main arm and driven arm, the weight and inertia of the motion platform itself were reduced by 10%, thereby improving the robot's speed performance. As a result, the robot's overall weight was reduced by 25%.

Increased arm coverage and enhanced machine efficiency

The boom coverage of the Burkent DM series has been increased by 20%, effectively expanding the working space while enhancing the machine's performance in material tracking and grabbing, and obstacle avoidance.

Advanced Software: A Brief Introduction to Automatic Calibration

Self-developed visual recognition system enables automatic calibration

The BoVison DM series machines are equipped with BoVison's independently developed "BoVison System". This vision system features an automatic calibration module that can quickly identify the characteristics of materials on the production line. Combined with preset stack type selection, it can operate autonomously after being set up, enabling efficient switching between production of multiple types of materials.

In addition, the BoVison System adopts a brand-new visual tracking calibration principle: one-point calibration. Compared with the traditional three-point calibration, one-point calibration greatly simplifies the human intervention required in the calibration process, making the operation simpler; the intuitive design of one-point calibration is more human-friendly, easy to learn, effectively shortens the training cycle and the time of a single visual operation, and improves work efficiency.

Four-pronged innovation: Human-machine collaboration reaches new heights, and after-sales service is one step ahead in iteration.

Easy-to-use debugging: quick leveling, flexible and simple.

The DM series integrates a leveling module on the robot's main arm. Zero-point scales are located on the inner side of each main arm and on the stationary platform. Aligning these two scales completes basic leveling. Additionally, by connecting the brake release button, the two zero-point scales can be manually aligned even without power drive, simplifying the operation and shortening the setup time.

The DM series remains compatible with the original laser level and spirit level for leveling operations, adapting to more precise motion requirements.

Status visualization: Machine status at a glance

In terms of operational safety, each axis of the Birkent DM series robots has independent operation indicators and foolproof markings, corresponding to the operation items of each axis motor and teach pendant, to avoid operator errors. The static platform integrates an indicator light module to provide real-time feedback on the equipment's operating status. When the robot malfunctions, the operator can intuitively perceive the change in the equipment's operating status immediately.

Enhanced operational safety: Automatic emergency stop ensures safety.

Regarding personal safety, the DM series has pre-set emergency response procedures. In the event of a safety issue, the robot will activate an automatic emergency stop mechanism to prevent secondary injuries. Afterwards, the robot can be manually moved to reset via the brake release button, ensuring the operator's safety.

Simplified maintenance: Iterative replacement saves time and effort.

The Berkent DM series features a modular design with 74% component interchangeability, allowing for quick replacement of common components. Furthermore, this series retains the hole layout of previous models, simplifying assembly for both new and old models.

These features of the DM series, coupled with Birkent's consistent after-sales service principle of "2-hour response, 24-hour arrival, and 72-hour problem resolution," as well as its nationwide localized marketing and service network, mean that enterprises not only have a customized automation solution with quick module replacement, but also reduce the economic and time costs of updates and maintenance.

Thus, Birkent's parallel robots have responded to market demands with "four modernizations": simplified debugging, visualized status, safe operation, and simplified maintenance, completing a new round of innovation in the DM series. The DM series supports on-demand customization and will launch three models, named according to their different arm spans: DM-800, DM-1200, and DM-1600.
