A frequency converter is a control device that uses the switching action of power semiconductor devices to convert industrial frequency power into electrical energy of another frequency. High-voltage, high-power variable frequency speed control devices are widely used in various fans, pumps, compressors, rolling mills, etc., in large mining plants, petrochemical plants, municipal water supply, metallurgy, steel, power energy and other industries.
1. Oil and gas drilling and production industry: In the oil drilling industry, frequency converters are mainly used in motors of load types such as oil pumping machines (nodding donkeys), water injection pumps, submersible pumps, oil transfer pumps, and gas compressors, with the primary purpose of energy saving for motors.
2. Metallurgical Industry: The main applications of high-voltage frequency converters in the metallurgical industry include rolling mills, coilers, fans, and slurry pumps for plate and wire rods, primarily for the purpose of energy saving of motors.
3. Power Industry: The power industry is also one of the important application areas of frequency converter products. Frequency converter products are mainly used to change the amount of coal, pulverized coal, water, etc., to adapt to changes in load, and ultimately achieve the purpose of saving energy and improving the level of control technology. It is of great significance to the energy saving, consumption reduction, emission reduction, safety and stable operation of thermal power plants.
4. Water Supply: Water supply and drainage systems, sewage treatment systems, etc., in shared projects. These devices are mainly motor loads such as fans and pumps. The energy-saving effect of using high-voltage frequency converters is excellent, and can usually achieve power savings of about 30%.
5. Petrochemical Industry: The petrochemical industry is the lifeblood of national economic development. Variable frequency drives (VFDs) are primarily used in various pumps, compressors, and common engineering applications in petroleum processing (refining) to achieve energy savings and improve process control.
6. Building Materials Industry: The building materials industry is an important materials industry in my country, and its products include three major categories: building materials and products, non-metallic minerals and products, and inorganic non-metallic new materials. Variable frequency drives (VFDs) are mainly used in equipment such as blowers, crushers, belt conveyors, exhaust fans, and rotary kilns in the building materials industry.
7. Coal Industry: Variable frequency drive (VFD) technology can effectively save energy when used in mine hoists in the coal industry. Currently, developed countries have widely adopted VFDs for speed control of belt conveyors, starting control of belt conveyors, fan speed control (including main and partial fans), and water pump speed control. Equipping the motors in these devices with VFDs not only improves transmission efficiency but, more importantly, saves energy.
