Regarding electric vehicles, are lead-acid batteries or lithium batteries better?

Electric bikes are a household name, as they've gained a lot of popularity and attention. They're affordable, practical, and bring a lot of convenience to our lives! For recent graduates or young people, electric bikes are a great choice!

However, there's a lot of knowledge hidden about electric vehicles. It's not just about buying one and being able to ride it; there are many secrets involved! Today, I'm going to talk about whether lead-acid batteries or lithium batteries are better for electric vehicles, or you might end up with a scrapped vehicle if you don't know the right one! You're probably very familiar with lead-acid batteries, as many vehicles use them nowadays!

My neighbor's lithium-ion battery electric scooter was very lightweight, but after a few years, when it came time to replace the battery, he found out it was more expensive than buying a new lead-acid battery scooter. So he decisively sold his lithium-ion scooter and bought a new lead-acid scooter! The price difference between lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries is several times, and lithium-ion batteries aren't cost-effective, so lead-acid is still the preferred choice. A few days ago, I replaced my lead-acid battery with a 60V 20A set at a specialty store for only 500 yuan; a lithium-ion battery would have cost at least 2000 yuan. Besides, my previous lead-acid battery lasted four years, not much shorter than a lithium-ion battery!

Lithium batteries are something most people are familiar with; they're used in everyday devices like mobile phones and computers. They are indeed very lightweight, but I think using them in electric vehicles would be quite inconvenient! While lithium batteries are advanced, the complexity of their materials means that recycling technology is practically nonexistent, making reuse even more difficult!

Many people might say: lead is a heavy metal and pollutes the environment. But did you know that lead-acid batteries can now be recycled at over 90%, and this is indeed the case? Battery manufacturers recycle them because they can essentially be made into new batteries after being recycled and dismantled. Lithium batteries, on the other hand, are not virtually unrecyclable; once they are chemically combined, they cannot be separated. The pollution after they are disposed of is far greater than during production.

Many netizens have commented that the quality of lithium batteries is no longer a matter of trial and error or exploration; it's no longer high-tech. The main issue is the significant price difference compared to aluminum-acid batteries. Electric vehicle manufacturers generally only focus on the immediate future. If they had a longer-term vision and the courage to create a wide, safe, beautiful, and imposing lithium battery electric vehicle, ideally with a range of over 150 kilometers, priced around 4500 yuan, I believe it would definitely find a market.

Do you have your own answer to whether lead-acid batteries or lithium batteries are better for electric vehicles? Actually, both types of batteries are fine!
