Performance comparison of lithium-ion batteries and storage batteries

Temperature tolerance: Common lithium-ion batteries operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius. However, their performance generally declines below 0 degrees Celsius, and their discharge capacity decreases accordingly. Therefore, the optimal operating temperature for lithium-ion batteries is typically 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. Lithium-ion batteries with specific environmental requirements may have different temperature ranges, with some even capable of operating normally in environments exceeding 100 degrees Celsius.

The operating temperature of a battery is generally required to be between 20℃ and 25℃. When the temperature is below 15℃, its discharge capacity decreases. For every 1℃ decrease in temperature, its capacity decreases by 1%. And if the temperature is too high (above 30℃), its lifespan will be greatly shortened.

Cycle life: The cycle life of lithium-ion batteries is generally around 2,000-3,000 times, while that of storage batteries is around 300-500 times. The cycle life of lithium-ion batteries is about five to six times that of storage batteries.

Specific energy (Wh/kg): 100-150 for lithium-ion batteries and 30-50 for storage batteries.

Volumetric mass ratio (Wh/L): 200-250 for lithium-ion batteries and 60-90 for rechargeable batteries.

Regarding charging and discharging: lithium-ion batteries have no memory effect; the battery can be charged and discharged at any time, with low self-discharge, less than 1% per month, and can be stored for a long time; it has strong power, can be charged and discharged quickly, can be charged to more than 80% in 20 minutes, and can be discharged completely in 15 minutes.

Batteries have a memory effect and cannot be charged and discharged at any time; they have a serious self-discharge phenomenon, and batteries are prone to failure if left unattended for a period of time; they have a low discharge rate and cannot be discharged at high current for a long time.

Another significant difference between lithium-ion batteries and rechargeable batteries lies in their environmental friendliness. In this era that emphasizes environmental protection, environmentally friendly and efficient batteries are better suited to the trends of the times and will be more widely used. In modern times, lithium-ion batteries are used in all aspects of our lives, such as mobile phone batteries, watch batteries, and vehicle batteries.
