[Introduction] The price difference between Siemens products within and outside the warranty period is significant, so accurately determining the product's manufacturing date is very useful!
Foreword
Siemens offers a wide variety of industrial control products. Below, we'll mainly discuss how to quickly find the production date using the serial number of a PLC module. The serial number format varies between different product series and even between different categories within the same series. The serial number on the original packaging and on the module itself is the same. The production date is directly visible on the original packaging of an unopened module. Once opened, the production date can be found using the serial number. (The method for finding the production date of other Siemens products is largely the same and can be used as a reference.)
(a) Serial numbers containing hyphens
The letter before the dash represents the manufacturer information and can be ignored. The first and second digits after the dash, as shown in the figure "W3", indicate the production date: March 2008 (see item 3 for code information).
(ii) The serial number does not contain a hyphen.
The letters S+ZV represent manufacturer information and can be ignored. The third and fourth digits, as shown in the figure, "F5", represent the production date: May 2015 (see item 3 for code information).
(III) Detailed Date Code Reference Table
