Abstract : This paper explores and practices the energy-saving and consumption-reducing application of high-voltage frequency converters in power plant condensate pumps, demonstrating its effectiveness in engineering projects. The success of this design provides valuable guidance and reference for the transformation of high-voltage loads such as primary air fans and circulating water pumps in power plant auxiliary power systems, and its application is worthy of promotion in design.

1 Overview
To ensure the safe operation of generator units, auxiliary equipment in thermal power plants is designed with a certain safety margin. At 10% of the main unit's rated load, auxiliary equipment accounts for only about 80% of the load, and sometimes even less. This results in a large proportion of plant power consumption; generally, 70%-80% of the plant power consumption in thermal power plants is consumed by pumps and fans. Many power plants' fans and pumps operate in an open-loop, constant-speed, 24-hour continuous operation state. Since these devices are generally selected based on the maximum load conditions that may occur during production, the actual operating load is often much lower than the design value, leading to serious energy waste. During the design process of a 2x30MW unit expansion project at a certain power plant, we conducted thorough research and analysis on condensate pump energy saving and consumption reduction, and determined to use a high-voltage frequency converter to control the condensate pump speed to reduce energy consumption. In nearly a year of actual operation of the condensate pumps, this scheme has proven to have significant energy-saving effects and a short investment recovery period, making it worthy of promotion in design.
