Design of Control System for Tuning Roller Wire Drawing Machine

Abstract : This paper introduces the working principle of a wire drawing machine with a tuning roller, proposes the control strategy of the electrical control system, designs the hardware and software of the electrical transmission control system, and analyzes the braking process of the system. The system adopts a fieldbus-based structure, and the position control of the tuning roller uses a variable parameter incremental digital PI adjusting algorithm, which achieves satisfactory operating results. Working Principle The process flow of the 8-unit tuning roller wire drawing machine is shown in Figure 1. It mainly consists of one pay-off machine, eight drums, and one take-up machine. The steel wire passes through the first drawing die and is wound onto the first drum, then sequentially passes through the second to eighth drawing dies and drums. Finally, the take-up machine winds the steel wire onto the I-beam reel. A tuning roller is installed between every two drums to adjust the wire tension.
