Abstract : This paper briefly describes the working principle and basic performance of frequency converters, and provides detailed explanations on the precautions in frequency converter application and selection, as well as how to select a proper frequency converter type according to the specific characteristics of the load. Zhongwei Company currently operates a 6-inch chip manufacturing project. The plant system uses a considerable number of frequency converters. The smooth and stable operation of frequency converters will improve the operational stability of plant equipment, reduce the impact stress on machinery and production equipment, and contribute to energy conservation and consumption reduction. The system, mainly used in the plant's cleanroom MAU, EXHAUST, HVAC, UPW, and PCW systems, has achieved good results after three years of operation. The company uses AB brand PowerFlex700 AC frequency converters and 1336 PLUS II frequency converters, primarily for HVAC and C/R systems in its plants. These frequency converters offer a flexible package of power, control, and operator interfaces to meet space, flexibility, and reliability requirements, and provide rich functionality, allowing users to easily configure the frequency converters for most applications.
