Abstract : This paper introduces the application of ABB ACS800 inverters and DCS600 drive units in bar mill finishing equipment control. It discusses in detail how to implement master-slave control of the DCS600 drive units, the position counter reset of the ACS800 inverter, and scalar control. The cooling bed is used to cool the segmented bars and group them in its exit area. The CCL is used to cut the bars collected from the cooling bed into shorter lengths and then send them to the collection area via an acceleration roller conveyor. Its main process equipment is shown in Figure 1, including: a cooling bed (CB), cooling bed output roller conveyors (CRT11, CRT12), a cold shear (CS), a cold saw (AC), a length cutter (LAG), a shearing roller conveyor (CRT2), and acceleration roller conveyors (CRT3, CRT4, CRT5). The cooling bed is controlled by three DCS600 drive units, and all roller conveyors are controlled by ABB ACS800 frequency converters. The cold shear and cold saw are controlled by one DCS600 drive unit and one ACS800 frequency converter, respectively. The horizontal positioning of the cutting machine is controlled by a constant speed motor, and the raising and lowering of its baffle is controlled by a pneumatic solenoid valve. See Figure 1.
