Abstract : This paper introduces the control system of the MB4363C semi-automatic dual-disk grinding machine, which consists of Emerson EC20 series PLC and EV1000 series frequency converters. The paper describes the machine tool's technological requirements and operating modes, as well as the configuration and programming essentials of the control system. Keywords : Grinding machine control system, PLC, Frequency converter Keywords : Muller; Control System; PLC; Frequency Converter 1. System Overview The MB4363C semi-automatic double-disc grinding machine is mainly used for grinding the flat and cylindrical surfaces of parts. It can be widely used in oil pump and nozzle factories, diesel engine factories, measuring tool and cutting tool factories, mold factories, instrument factories, etc., for grinding bearing rollers, bearing rings, pins, gauges, sealing rings, valve bodies, and other parts. Currently, this machine tool is widely used in bearing factories for grinding the end faces of bearing rings. 2. Control Requirements The machine tool's operation requirements: This machine tool is equipped with upper and lower grinding discs for processing parts. Independent control is required, allowing for inching, directional control, and stepless speed regulation. The machine tool is also equipped with an eccentric wheel to control the rotation of the part during the grinding process, requiring inching, directional control, and stepless speed regulation. This machine tool has a vertical structure with a cantilever to support the upper grinding wheel. Its movements include swinging in and out, loosening and clamping, facilitating the loading and unloading of machined parts. The upper grinding wheel has rising and falling movements. The machine tool also features several levels of pressure control: initial pressure, main pressure, and fine pressure. These actions are controlled by hydraulic solenoid valves and have specific timing requirements. The machine tool has three operating modes: manual, automatic, and dressing. Manual mode is used for machine tool adjustments and single-part machining; automatic mode is used for batch production after machine tool adjustments; and dressing mode is used for repairing worn grinding wheels. Due to the numerous modes and actions used, an HMI (Hardware Interface) is used as the operating interface.
