Key points for frequency converter commissioning

Keywords: Inverter function setting, parameter setting. Due to the excellent energy-saving and speed regulation performance of inverters, coupled with the increasing sophistication of AC frequency conversion technology, inverters are increasingly widely used in various industries such as coal, metallurgy, and chemical engineering. However, inverter parameter setting is relatively complex and professional, directly affecting the effective utilization of the equipment. 1. Output Frequency Range The output frequency range, also known as the frequency limit, refers to the upper and lower limits of the inverter's output frequency. Its purpose is to prevent damage to mechanical equipment caused by misoperation or malfunction of the external frequency setting signal source, which could lead to excessively high or low output frequencies. This function is generally set based on the maximum speed of the controlled motor or an empirical value. For example, in a boiler pulverized coal feeder motor, to prevent excessive coal feeding from causing unstable combustion, the upper limit frequency of the inverter can be set to a certain value based on experience to ensure stable operation. 2. Base Frequency and Base Frequency Voltage The base frequency, also known as the fundamental frequency, is the dividing point between constant torque operation and constant power operation of the motor. Setting the base frequency according to the load's requirements for torque and power allows the motor to output constant torque or constant power, thereby meeting control requirements. The earliest frequency converters could only be set to a minimum base frequency of 50Hz, which was difficult to meet the above requirements. Currently, with the development of frequency conversion technology, most frequency converters can meet these requirements. Loads such as fans and pumps are mostly constant power loads, while mechanical transmissions such as feeders and belt conveyors are mostly constant torque loads. Correctly setting the base frequency can better leverage the energy-saving and controllable advantages of the frequency converter. The base frequency voltage is the output voltage corresponding to the base frequency output, and its setting principle is the same as that of the base frequency.
