Abstract : This article details the successful application of a control system comprised of Delta HMI (Human-Machine Interface ), ES series programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and B and M type AC frequency converters on a fabric weaving machine in Taizhou City. The entire electrical control system is built using the ODBUGS protocol. After nearly a year of use by the user, the system has proven highly effective. The mechanical structure of a typical loom mainly includes a warp feed mechanism, main machine, take-up mechanism, weft selection mechanism, weft storage mechanism, and dobby mechanism; the electrical control system mainly includes the main control section (including the main motor, electronic weft selection, electronic dobby, etc.); and the electric feed and take-up section (warp feed motor, take-up motor control). However, because rapier looms are a special type of rapier loom, they possess both general loom performance and unique features. These are mainly reflected in: simple mechanical dobby, fixed weft yarn, differences in the warp feed and take-up mechanisms, and the presence of a large package mechanism. Previously, the main control section of the rapier loom's electrical control system used single-chip microcomputer control, including clutch control for the main machine and LCD displays; warp feed/take-up (including large packages) mostly used mechanical coupling control, and even when frequency conversion control was used, it was generally analog control of a specific part. The disadvantages of this control structure are its complex mechanical structure and difficult maintenance; because much of it relies on mechanical transmission; the vehicle speed is generally not very high, typically between 200 and 350 r/min; the display information is incomplete; and the degree of automation is low.
