Abstract : This article introduces the application of SIMOVERT 6SE70 series fully digital vector control frequency converter on the door-shaped crane with a span of 76.2 m. It describes the configuration, functions and characteristics of this converter. The results show that the use of this fully digital vector control frequency converter can effectively improve the crane's working efficiency, reduce the accident rate, ensure reliable operation, simplify operation, facilitate maintenance, and achieve significant energy savings. Baogang Coking Plant currently has two gantry cranes, No. 1 and No. 2. Their span is 76.2 m. The No. 1 gantry crane was designed and manufactured by Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd. in July 2001. Adhering to the principles of energy saving, high efficiency, reliability, safety, low accident rate, convenient maintenance, smooth acceleration and deceleration, no impact on machinery, and advanced control, we proposed that both the trolley traveling transmission system and the trolley traveling and hoisting transmission system adopt Siemens 6SE70 series fully digital vector control frequency converters. The entire vehicle control system uses Siemens ST-300 series PLCs. Since its completion and commissioning in 2003, it has fully met the requirements of the design concept. In March 2004, we upgraded the electrical control system of the original 2-gantry crane. The upgrade was completed and put into use at the end of May.
