Abstract : This paper introduces a novel high-output thrust piezoelectric linear motor—a micro-ridge peristaltic linear motor. This motor employs a micro-ridge clamping structure, significantly increasing the output thrust to 500N. This micro-ridge linear motor has the potential to become a new direction in the commercial market of piezoelectric linear motors. Keywords : piezoelectric linear motor; peristaltic motor; piezoelectric ceramic; ridge 1 Introduction In all electromechanical systems and devices involving automatic control, the actuator is often considered one of the most critical factors limiting its performance and lifespan. Among the many types of actuators, piezoelectric actuators have attracted much attention due to their fast response, high load capacity, low energy consumption, and low price. With the rapid development of science and technology, especially in fields such as optics, microelectronics, aviation, aerospace, mechanical manufacturing, robotics, modern medicine, biology, and genetic engineering, there is an increasing need for high-performance linear drive motors. Piezoelectric linear motors have the characteristics of small size, low cost, high output force (relative to their size), fast response, high precision, and no electromagnetic interference. It has become a hot topic of interest for many research institutions and enterprises. Some products have already entered the market and begun commercialization and large-scale production. However, the current drive of piezoelectric linear motors mainly relies on frictional force transmission. Therefore, low axial stiffness and low output thrust are common drawbacks of all piezoelectric linear motors and even all piezoelectric motors to date. This greatly restricts its practical application: how to improve the axial thrust to meet its driving needs and expand its application range is a hot topic in current piezoelectric linear motor research. The micro-ridge peristaltic piezoelectric linear motor is a type of actuator developed abroad in recent years. It solves the long-standing problem of low output thrust of piezoelectric linear motors and is expected to become a linear motor with broad application prospects. At present, there is still little research in this area in China. This article will introduce the working principle of its peristaltic piezoelectric motor and the basic structure, manufacturing process, and performance indicators of the micro-ridge peristaltic motor to facilitate domestic institutions to carry out research and application work in this area.
