Precise control methods and techniques for sprinkler irrigation volume and shape

Abstract : Through research on precision sprinkler irrigation methods, a microcontroller-controlled precision sprinkler irrigation system was developed. This system uses a microcontroller to control a stepper motor, thereby controlling the rotation of a single sprinkler head; simultaneously, the microcontroller controls a frequency converter to change the speed of a submersible pump motor, adjusting the outlet flow rate of the sprinkler head and achieving control of the spray distance. Within a given shaped area, each operating unit performs precise irrigation according to a given water volume, achieving the goal of regulating the water volume of each operating unit within the irrigation shape and area. Preliminary experiments show that the system can achieve control of irrigation volume and simple irrigation shapes. Keywords: Precision agriculture; Precision sprinkler irrigation; Control system Introduction China is one of the 13 countries in the world with the most scarce water resources, with per capita water resources only one-quarter of the world average. Water scarcity has become the biggest limiting factor for agricultural development in China. my country is a major agricultural country, with agricultural irrigation accounting for over 70% of the nation's total water consumption. However, due to outdated irrigation technology and low management levels, the irrigation water utilization coefficient is only 0.3–0.4 (compared to 0.7–0.75 in developed countries). Of my country's 380 billion cubic meters of agricultural irrigation water used annually, approximately 247 billion cubic meters are lost due to seepage and evaporation. With continuous economic development and increased industrial and urban water consumption, the contradiction of insufficient agricultural water resources will become increasingly prominent. Sprinkler irrigation is a widely used water-saving method, but the traditional idea behind it is to ensure uniform water distribution within a regular irrigation area. In actual production, the soil moisture content varies greatly within the same plot, making uniform sprinkler irrigation less than ideal; moreover, fields are often irregular in shape. Therefore, this research focuses on implementing "differentiated treatment and on-demand sprinkler irrigation" based on field soil conditions, and "shape-based sprinkler irrigation," i.e., precise control of the irrigation volume and range. [b]1 Sprinkler Irrigation Control System Scheme 1.1 Control System Scheme[/b] This system consists of a submersible pump, connecting devices and single sprinkler heads, a frequency converter, a stepper motor, a stepper motor driver, a system control motherboard, and detection and transmission devices. The stepper motor and its drive device are mainly used to control the spray angle of the sprinkler head; the frequency converter is used to adjust the speed of the submersible pump's AC motor. By changing the speed of the submersible motor through the frequency converter, the spray distance changes accordingly. A schematic diagram of the scheme is shown in Figure 1.
