MF type voice coil linear motor parameter self-optimization PID control

Abstract : This paper briefly introduces the structure of the MF type voice coil linear motor. The PID parameters of the control system are self-optimized using the simplex acceleration method, and the search results are used for position servo control of the linear motor. Experimental comparisons show that this method enables the control system to have self-learning capabilities, automatically adjusting the PID parameters before each control operation to keep the system in its optimal state. This eliminates the hassle of manual PID parameter tuning, greatly improving efficiency, control accuracy, and speed. Keywords : Linear motor; PID control; Self-optimization 1 Introduction Voice coil linear motors are increasingly widely used in direct drives of machine tools due to their advantages such as light weight, high frequency response, high speed, large stroke, and large thrust. Based on different structural forms, the application models of this type of motor can be divided into two main categories: one is the mass-spring damping model, i.e., the MFK type; the other is the mass-damped model, i.e., the MF model, whose simplified diagram is shown in Figure 1. The MFK type is mature in engineering applications, and the spring effect makes system control easy to implement. However, the spring also has a negative impact, as it limits the output displacement. Furthermore, to overcome the spring's constraint, the linear motor has to use most of its output force to deform the spring. Therefore, the MF-type linear motor, without the spring, naturally possesses inherent advantages. This type of motor is primarily represented by CROSS Corporation in the United States.
