Design of an optimal DC motor speed controller based on ITAE

Abstract: A controller design method for a DC motor speed control system is proposed. This method is mainly based on ITAE optimum control theory and combined with PI control. Simulation results show that the designed speed control system not only has excellent speed tracking performance, but also has strong robustness and resistance to load disturbances. Keywords: ITAE optimum control; PI control; robustness; DC motor 1 IntroductionDC motor dual-closed-loop speed control systems are widely used in industrial production. Many processes require the speed control system to have hard speed characteristics, that is, small dynamic speed drop and strong recovery ability under various disturbances. Therefore , robust speed control is receiving increasing attention. Changes in operating conditions, object parameters, or the difficulty in obtaining precise parameters can all cause speed fluctuations or affect control performance. To improve the robustness of the PI controller, this paper designs a speed controller for a DC motor dual-closed-loop speed control system using the ITAE method. The basic idea of this method is to first transform the closed-loop transfer function of the studied loop into the standard form of the optimal transfer function by introducing a PI controller and a pre-filter; then, determine the parameters of the PI controller by comparing them with the coefficients of the optimal transfer function based on the ITAE index; finally, determine the parameters of the pre-filter.
