Design and Implementation of a Sintering Process Control System Based on Profibus-DP

Abstract: With the initiation of informatization in steel enterprises, the construction and transformation of basic automation has become extremely urgent. The core of this is the construction of the basic automation network architecture and the setting of the underlying information sharing mode. This problem is effectively solved by using fieldbus technology combined with general-purpose configuration software based on a Web Server. Through research on the basic automation network structure and information sharing mode, a practical three-layer control network configuration is presented, taking a sintering plant as an example. A programmable Wago fieldbus system based on Profibus-DP is used to construct the control network. Control master stations are set up in the main sintering plant and the batching workshop, and control substations are set up for mixing, electrostatic precipitators at the head and tail of the mill, screening, and finished product granulation. Control is extended to the production equipment via the bus. The setting up of a Web server and a data server solves both the remote diagnosis and control of the system and ensures the security of the control network. Practice shows that the system's reliability and interoperability are improved, and process data can be transmitted openly and transparently to the enterprise information system. It achieves integrated management and control of production, supply, and sales, and real-time monitoring of production costs, aiming to improve efficiency, reduce management steps, and strengthen process control. Through research on the network structure and process database of the sintering plant control system, a basic automation upgrade and expansion model for enterprise informatization is formulated.
