Abstract The underground personnel tracking and positioning system based on radio frequency communication (RF communication) achieves simple and efficient personnel tracking and positioning by combining wireless and wired communication using existing underground networks. It enables personnel positioning and tracking, intuitive production scheduling and command, remote automation and digitalization of attendance and management, and alarms for emergencies. Keywords: Radio frequency communication, personnel tracking and positioning, high-frequency wireless transceiver module. The location of underground personnel in roadways is mostly dynamic, with some roadways stretching for tens of kilometers, making personnel positioning crucial. Especially in emergencies, quickly determining the number, location, and identity of personnel in hazardous areas allows for timely rescue measures, minimizing the losses and impacts of accidents. The personnel positioning and tracking system possesses this function and can also provide the number of people within the monitored area, historical records of the work area, and real-time statistical reports. 1 Technical Requirements The technology of the underground personnel tracking and positioning system is limited by the actual environment of underground coal mining operations. Currently, the lighting conditions in China's coal mines make it impossible to use video signals to identify personnel. Moreover, video surveillance is limited to areas such as main roadways and working faces. For the detection of the entire mining area spanning tens of kilometers, electronic personnel identification signal detection must be adopted. The specific requirements are as follows: (1) The system can cover underground roadways according to actual needs; (2) The system relies on the existing underground network and does not require rewiring; (3) It can reflect the actual location of underground personnel in a timely manner and realize personnel tracking; (4) It can identify personnel and provide information for mine management and attendance; (5) It can digitize personnel information and realize unmanned management and detection; (6) It can notify all underground personnel to evacuate in time during emergencies. 2 Hardware Implementation The underground personnel tracking and positioning system based on radio frequency communication takes the high-performance wireless transceiver integrated data transmission module PTR2000 as the core, and uses a microcontroller to cooperate with its data transmission and reception. It relies on the existing underground network to realize simple and efficient personnel tracking and positioning by combining wireless and wired communication. The PTR2000 chip is notable for its minimal external component requirements, making design very convenient. This module integrates high-frequency transmission, high-frequency reception, PLL synthesis, FSK modulation/demodulation, parametric amplification, power amplification, and channel switching. It is currently one of the most highly integrated wireless data transmission products available.
