Abstract : This paper briefly describes the advantages of linear motor drive compared with traditional CNC machine tool feed drive, the impact of linear motor drive on control quality and the requirements of measurement system, introduces a system application, and provides examples and conclusions. Keywords : linear motor drive; path generation 1 Introduction Traditional CNC machine tools use rotary motors to drive transmission mechanisms to convert rotary motion into linear motion. Due to the limitations of rotary motor technology, it can no longer meet the requirements of high-precision machine tools. Linear motors are a type of transmission device that directly converts electrical energy into linear motion mechanical energy without any intermediate conversion mechanism. Compared with traditional machine tool feed drive, linear motor drive has the following advantages: (1) It eliminates the intermediate conversion mechanism, reduces mechanical wear, and can maintain high gain during system operation, achieving accurate feed feed. It can accurately track a given machining path at high speed, thus ensuring the high precision and service life of the machine tool. (2) During operation, linear motors are not subject to centrifugal force like rotary motors, so their linear speed is not limited. (3) The inertia of linear drive mainly exists in the slide, so there can be a high acceleration during machining. (4) Linear motors are driven by electromagnetic thrust, resulting in very low system noise and improved working conditions. These advantages of linear drives make them highly suitable for applications requiring high dynamic characteristics and precise positioning.
