Abstract : This paper discusses the design and implementation of an intelligent central air conditioning energy-saving system. The system effectively utilizes systems engineering principles, integrating classical control theory, inverter control, configuration software, and distributed networks to ensure smooth system operation and achieve the predetermined energy-saving goals. Keywords : Central air conditioning, energy saving, Distributed Control System (DCS), Direct Digital Control (DDC) 1. Composition and Control Concept of a Central Air Conditioning System Central air conditioning differs from individual household air conditioners in its temperature transfer method: Individual household air conditioners directly blow air onto radiators to obtain cold or hot air. Central air conditioning units heat or cool circulating water. The circulating water (condensate/warm water) flows through insulated pipes to the user's room via a pump. Radiators and fans are installed in the user's room, and the air blown by the fans through the radiators enters the room, where it is heated or cooled. It can be seen that a central air conditioning system has two water circulation systems: a water circulation system that transfers cold/heat to the user and a water circulation system that dissipates heat from the main unit. Both systems use several pumps and fans. Central air conditioning systems typically use multiple main units, correspondingly requiring even more pumps and fans. In typical central air conditioning systems, the circulating water flow rate is fixed. Regardless of the number of rooms requiring air conditioning or the desired temperature in each room, the central air conditioning system operates at full capacity at all times. This is obviously very inefficient and wasteful of energy. Most central air conditioning systems rely on manual control for energy saving. Our system uses intelligent units to control the circulating water flow rate and coordinate the operating status of each pump and fan, ensuring that the cooling/heating capacity of the circulating water is fully utilized. Simultaneously, it keeps the air conditioning unit in optimal operating condition, fully utilizing its optimal energy efficiency ratio and improving the unit's operating efficiency; this is our main goal for energy-saving control.
