Abstract : This paper proposes the concept of time-division multiplexing and provides a detailed explanation of its technology and applications, showcasing its promising application prospects. Keywords : Soft starter; Frequency converter; Time-division multiplexing; Sequential start/stop; Dissolved oxygen control; Constant voltage frequency conversion regulation 0 Introduction Soft starters and frequency converters are modern intelligent electrical devices that have emerged with the development of semiconductor and power electronics technologies, and are widely used in AC power drive equipment. Their advent has greatly improved the starting performance of squirrel-cage asynchronous motors and eliminated the need for expensive DC motors and AC series-wound regulation methods for motor speed control. Their excellent performance and high reliability have made them widely popular. However, their considerable price has also created some obstacles to their widespread application. Generally, unless absolutely necessary, people will not abandon simple and inexpensive methods such as Y-Δ starting or autotransformer reduced voltage starting in favor of soft starters and frequency converters. In some extreme cases, some engineers pursue advanced technology without considering economic benefits, rendering the application of soft starters and frequency converters ineffective and meaningless. For example, equipment that doesn't require frequent starting is equipped with a soft starter, and after starting, it operates below its rated speed for extended periods. Similarly, several machines operating in parallel are each regulated simultaneously by a frequency converter, making it difficult to achieve the required control precision. Studying their operation reveals that the actual working time of the soft starters and frequency converters accounts for only a tiny fraction of the equipment's operating time, with 99% of the time spent idle. This means their capabilities are only utilized to a negligible extent, and this waste of capacity directly results in wasted investment. Recognizing this significant potential and inspired by network communication technologies, the author proposes the concept of time-division multiplexing (TDM) technology and, based on years of experience, designs application examples and circuits.
