To meet customers' needs for multiple communication ports, Yiwei has specially launched a three-serial-port 284 CPU. Since its market launch, it has received high praise from many customers. However, many customers still have some questions about the three communication ports on this CPU when they first receive the product. Let's take a look at the appearance of this product and the definition of the communication ports, as follows:
Looking at this picture, it's clear at a glance that communication port 0 only supports PPI, terminal communication port only supports free port, and communication port 1 supports both PPI and free port.
We all know that Yiwei CPUs can be programmed using Step7 software. Step7 MicroWIN can automatically refresh and identify the CPU. The 284 CPU is identified and displayed as 224 CPU in the software, as shown below:
For customers using the 284 CPU for the first time, a problem arises: if they want to use both PORT0 and PORT1 via the PPI protocol and want to modify the PLC address, they will find that port 1 is grayed out and the parameters cannot be modified when they open the system block!
At this point, it depends on the PLC type we selected, because our 284 CPU has three communication ports! The solution is to select the 224XP CPU type, especially for customers using Yiwei products for the first time. If the customer has used Yiwei's 224 CPU before, there will also be a CPU 224 UN option in the PLC types; selecting this type is also acceptable, because our Yiwei 224 has two ports. This solves the problem!
Another major question is whether PORT2 (terminal) supports Modbus communication. We answered that it does, but the customer asked why there is no PORT2 in the Modbus library file. Actually, when PORT2 uses Modbus communication, it can simply call the PORT0 library file! Similarly, if PORT2 (terminal) uses a free port, the register definition is defined in the same way as port 0.
