What safety precautions should be taken when using machine tools?
To protect machine tools from hazards, in addition to requiring reasonably designed, reliably installed protective devices that do not interfere with operation, such as protective covers, guardrails, and safety railings, it is also necessary to install safety devices, such as overload protection devices, travel protection devices, braking devices, and sequential action devices to prevent misoperation. A power cut-off switch is also required. Furthermore, the production area should have sufficient lighting, each machine tool should have appropriate local lighting, and a certain safe distance should be maintained. For machine tools whose noise levels exceed national standards, noise reduction measures should be implemented.
As a worker operating a machine tool, you must operate it according to the following requirements:
1. Dress as required. Open clothes must be buttoned up, cuffs must be tied tightly, and long hair must be tucked into a hat. Remember, gloves must never be worn when working on machine tools with rotating parts.
2. When measuring working dimensions, the machine should be stopped and the tool holder moved to a safe position.
3. The workpiece and the cutting tool must be securely mounted, and the cutting tool tip should not protrude too far.
4. The ribbon-like and spiral chips that are cut off should be removed promptly with a hook; do not pull them off by hand.
5. Tools, measuring instruments, clamps, and workpieces must not be placed on the machine bed or gearbox to prevent them from falling and injuring people.
6. When cutting brittle materials such as cast iron and brass, to prevent hot chips from flying out and injuring people, protective glasses and transparent protective shields should be worn.
7. When operating a grinding machine, attention should also be paid to the selection and installation requirements of the grinding wheel to prevent the grinding wheel from breaking and flying out, causing injury.
