A Brief Discussion on High-End Frequency Inverters in the Context of Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0 is one of the ten future projects proposed in the German government's "High Technology Strategy 2020". It is divided into three themes: "Smart Factory", which means that equipment can communicate with each other and operate independently in a smart networked production process; "Smart Production", which means the production logistics management and human-machine interaction of enterprises; and "Smart Logistics", which mainly integrates logistics resources through the Internet, the Internet of Things, and the logistics network to fully realize the effective allocation of resources. From this, we can basically understand several key words of Industry 4.0: digitalization, intelligence, and personalization.

With Germany proposing Industry 4.0 and my country also promoting the transformation of its traditional manufacturing industry, the definition of frequency converters, especially high-end frequency converters, has changed against this backdrop. Xiaoying believes the main trends are as follows:

Precise control

Since the first AC frequency converter was introduced, frequency converter control has undergone four major revolutions, from simple speed regulation to torque control, and even to position control. Frequency converters are no longer limited to fan and pump drives. In the motor self-learning process, INVT takes into account various dynamic factors of the motor, such as the influence of the skin effect of the stator, which effectively improves the accuracy of motor learning.

In terms of torque control, a new type of phase-locked loop was designed, which effectively improved the stability and accuracy of torque output.

In high-precision closed-loop control, multi-isolation digital filtering technology is adopted, which can effectively remove interference signals even under harsh conditions of near-field coupling at 100 meters, and achieve high-precision speed control and position control with an error of no more than 1 pulse.

Personalization

"Technology for people" means that the most advanced technologies often achieve complex functions with simple operations. Industry 4.0's personalized requirements also create a demand for customized frequency converters. Under the national requirements of "reducing inventory, reducing overcapacity, deleveraging, lowering costs, and addressing weaknesses," frequency converter users, from inventory preparation to use, all hope to have a set of baseline modules that allow them to customize the functions of their frequency converters; or, they need a product that can be integrated on demand, providing full-drive and all-around functionality, reducing management costs on the one hand, and facilitating secondary development by users on the other.

Five key areas to focus on include: first, digital R&D and design; second, integrating electronic information technology into products to improve their quality, functionality, and added value; third, CNC-based manufacturing equipment, with extensive use of high-end CNC machine tools and industrial robots; fourth, intelligent manufacturing processes, upgrading production lines from automation to intelligence; and fifth, building upon the aforementioned material foundations, establishing a new set of manufacturing service technical standards and procedures, along with an intelligent management system, to achieve scientific organization of work processes and precise control of various key indicators.

It is evident that the digitalization of Industry 4.0 ultimately cannot bypass high-speed and secure data exchange. As a key component in industry, frequency converters must also be able to meet the needs of various mainstream communication methods.
