Similarly, we industrial control professionals also hope to have a satisfactory helper, which can save a lot of time and effort in the process, or solve technical difficulties and win big orders. Below, I will introduce to you a versatile helper that can handle any situation in the application of external dimension measurement - Banner Measurement Light Curtain .
The measurement light curtain consists of a transmitter and a receiver. Light emitted from the transmitter shines directly onto the receiver. Objects placed between the transmitter and receiver will block some of the light, preventing it from reaching the corresponding receiver. The measurement light curtain uses a scanning method to identify blocked channels. First, one transmitter channel emits a light pulse, and the corresponding receiver simultaneously receives the pulse. Then, it moves to the next channel, and so on, until all channels have been scanned. After one scan cycle, the system records which channels are illuminated and which are blocked. Finally, it outputs the scan results according to the detection mode, which can be an analog signal or MODBUS communication.
The Banner Measurement Light Curtain is so versatile because Banner's designers have given it eight scanning and analysis modes, enabling it to handle different application scenarios with ease.
Object size/volume measurement
Usage mode: Number of beams that are completely blocked by TBB.
Measuring the outer diameter of a hollowed-out object, such as a tire.
Usage modes: CBM (number of continuously conducting beams) measures the inner diameter; FBB (first beam blocked) and LBB (last beam blocked) measure the outer diameter.
Contour positioning and height measurement, such as for spray painting and baking.
Usage modes: FBB (first blocked beam) and LBB (last blocked beam) are used for horizontal contour positioning; LBB (last blocked beam) is used for vertical positioning.
Aperture Measurement
Usage mode: CBM (number of continuously conducting beams).
Corrective measures, such as those for textile equipment and steel coil uncoiling equipment.
Usage mode: LBM (last conducting beam).
Finally, Banner Measurement Light Curtain also has a feature that can remedy the problem of excessive light curtain size caused by equipment modifications—blind zone setting. Banner Measurement Light Curtain allows setting up to two blind zones to shield areas that do not need to be detected or are blocked by the mechanical structure of the equipment.
