Abstract : This article introduces the application of the SIMOVERT MV medium voltage inverter in the air blower of Xuanhua Steel Plant. The running result indicates that the adoption of the medium voltage inverter to the air blower is successful and the energy saving effect is obvious. Key words : Middle-voltage inverter, 12-pulse diode rectifier, Net communication 1 IntroductionIn recent years, the application of AC variable frequency speed control technology has developed rapidly in various industries. Because variable frequency speed control is unmatched by the previous AC speed control methods in terms of speed range, dynamic response, low-frequency torque, power factor, and efficiency, and has played a huge role in saving energy and improving economic efficiency, its application is becoming more and more widespread. Converter steelmaking is characterized by significant periodicity and continuity. Producing one heat of steel takes 30-45 minutes, with oxygen supply (blowing) taking 15-20 minutes. More than half of this time is non-blowing, during which the blowers do not need to operate at high speed. Switching them to low-speed, energy-saving mode can save a significant amount of energy, reduce equipment wear, and greatly improve equipment utilization. Currently, most converter primary dust collector blowers in China use hydraulic couplers, but due to slip losses, the energy-saving effect is not ideal, and the equipment failure rate is relatively high. AC frequency conversion technology not only offers smooth speed regulation, a wide speed range, high efficiency, low starting current, and stable operation, but also provides excellent energy savings. It is the best energy-saving method for blowers and pumps, with an average energy saving effect of over 30%. However, it has not yet been widely adopted for high-voltage, high-power motors. There are two main reasons for this: First, high-power motors require high power supply voltages (3-10kV), while the voltage withstand capability of current inverter switching devices is relatively low, causing difficulties in voltage matching. Second, high-voltage, high-capacity variable frequency speed control devices are technically complex, difficult to maintain, and expensive. Since the loads they drive are often critical equipment directly related to production and daily life, most users have doubts about their performance and reliability and are hesitant to adopt them. Our factory, after extensive evaluation of the actual application effects in multiple units, selected the Siemens SIMOVERT MV medium-voltage inverter.
