1 Introduction
The No. 8 unit of the Datang Anyang Power Plant has a capacity of 100MW, with two single-intake centrifugal induced draft fans installed in the boiler. The fans were previously controlled using traditional damper regulation, which resulted in significant pressure losses in the ductwork, making it an inefficient, energy-intensive, and difficult-to-maintain regulation method. Furthermore, as a peak-shaving unit, it frequently operates between 60 and 80MW, leading to high power consumption during low-load periods. Therefore, in early 2006, the speed control of the No. 8 boiler's induced draft fans was upgraded by installing variable frequency drives (VFDs) to reduce energy consumption, improve fan regulation performance, stabilize boiler combustion, and enhance economic efficiency.
2. Working principle and structure of frequency converters
The induced draft fan inverter for Boiler No. 8 adopts an 800kW/6kV high-voltage variable frequency speed control system manufactured by Dongfang Hitachi (Chengdu) Electrical Control Equipment Co., Ltd., model DHVECTOL-D101060/06B, with a capacity of 1060kVA and an operating ambient temperature of 0℃-40℃. The main technical parameters of the inverter are shown in the attached table.
