Abstract : This article focuses on the widely used general-purpose frequency converters and raises some issues that need attention in frequency converter selection and peripheral device configuration. Keywords : Frequency converter selection, peripheral devices 1 Introduction Duetothe continuous development and progress of power electronics technology, and the emergence and improvement of new control theories, AC speed control drives, especially high-performance variable frequency speed control drives, have developed rapidly. In recent years, the price of frequency converters has continued to decline, while their functions have continued to improve and expand. They are now widely used in driving everything from household appliances at the hundreds of watts level to large industrial transmission devices at the thousands of kilowatts level. AC variable frequency speed control has transitioned from its initial use only for speed control of fans and pumps to its application in various industrial sites requiring high-precision, fast-response, and high-performance speed control indicators. The widespread adoption of frequency converters has yielded remarkable results in energy saving, labor reduction, automation, increased productivity, improved quality, reduced maintenance, and enhanced user comfort. However, frequency converters are, after all, a relatively new power electronic product that incorporates many advanced technologies, emerging only in the last 20 years.
